A right-handed outfielder, Wilson did two tours with the Sotolar Pointers – from 1980 to 1982 and then again from 1986 to 1992. During that time, the Pointers won five CYC Major League championships and five NBC state championships. In 1987 and 1991, the Pointers finished in the top Ten at the NBC World Series in Wichita. In 1991, Wilson hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the NBC state title game. In 1980, he batted .370 with 78 hits, 19 doubles, nine home runs, and 81 RBIs. In a five-year span with the Pointers, he had a composite batting average of .360 with 183 hits, 49 doubles, 21 home runs, and 152 RBIs.
Wilson played baseball and basketball for Beaumont High School. In 1967, the Beaumont basketball team finished third at the Missouri State Tournament.
In 1969 and 1970, he was an outfielder for Meramec Community College. In 1970, Meramec finished in the Final Four at the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
In the early 1970s, Wilson played in the Tandy League for the Braves and the Mathews-Dickey Knights. In 1976, he was an outfielder for the Fenton Vets in the St. Louis County League.
Wilson coached amateur baseball in the St. Louis area for many years.
