In 1971, left-handed pitcher Steve Walsh was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1975, Walsh was drafted by the Chicago White Sox, and a year later the Montreal Expos drafted him. Walshe was a standout pitcher for St. Louis University from 1971-75. In 1974, he had 23 strikeouts in a game against Cape Girardeau at the NBC Tournament. He also pitched a no-hitter that year.

Steve also had a complete game victory for the Billikens against the Cardinal Rookie League team and earned All-Conference honorable mention. Walsh later pitched for the St. Louis Union Printers in 1976.
