For a dozen years, Steve Pfund was the head baseball coach at St. Dominic High School. He took over the program from longtime coach Norm Ochsner in 1997. Pfund led the Crusaders to the Missouri state championship in 2008, and he was named Coach of the Year. He was the junior varsity baseball coach at St. Dominic in 1996.

Pfund was the head baseball coach at Lutheran South High School for 11 years from 2009 to 2019. Lutheran South finished second at the state tournament in 2012 and 2017. At the beginning of his career, Steve was an assistant baseball coach at Lutheran South for four years.

During his 23 years as head baseball coach, Pfund had 430 victories and 215 losses. In 2015, he was inducted into Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Pfund graduated from Lutheran South High School in 1978. His father, Roy, was the head baseball coach at Lutheran South from 1962 to 1988. Roy Pfund was inducted into the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017.
