Miller has been coaching baseball in the St. Louis area for nearly 40 years. He has won numerous championships and was widely regarded as an "ambassador" of high school athletics in St. Louis, noted for his leadership, integrity, and focus on character education.

Miller was the head baseball coach at Hazelwood Central High School from 1980 to 1982. The Hawks won the Missouri State championship in ’81 and ’82 and was ranked first in the St. Louis area both seasons. He was the assistant baseball coach at the high school from 1975 to 1979.

He went on to become the head baseball coach at Lafayette High Schools in 2004 to 2009 after being assistant coach for nine seasons. In 2005, he was named Suburban West Coach of the Year. At Lafayette, he coached future Major Leaguers David Freese, Ryan Howard and Luke Voit.

From 1989 to 1995, Miller served as assistant coach of the Ellisville Redbirds in the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association. From 1996 to 1998, Miller was the head coach of the Sportsprint Bulldogs in the St. Louis Metro Collegiate League.

He is currently the assistant coach of the Chesterfield Titans in the Chesterfield Athletic Association. He has been with the Titans since 2018.

Miller played baseball, football and basketball at McCluer High School, graduating in 1968. He played baseball and football at Memphis State University and Arkansas State University.

Steve was the Activities Director at Lafayette High from 1994 to 2007. He is currently the assistant football coach at Lafayette. He has also coached football at Hazelwood Central High, Lindenwood College, and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
