ogel has been the head baseball coach at Waterloo High School since 1992, winning over 535 games. His teams won numerous conference, regional and sectional championships, advancing twice to the Illinois State Tournament. In 2011, he was named Metro East High School Coach of the Year.

Mark has been the head baseball coach at Waterloo Junior High School since 1991, winning well over 500 games. His teams have won numerous championships.

A 1986 graduate of Waterloo High School, Vogel played second base for the Waterloo Bulldogs. He was a second baseman for Kaskaskia College from 1986-1988. Vogel was the leading hitter on the Kaskaskia team in 1986. He also played for the University of Northern Iowa from 1988-91.

He was a second baseman in the Mon-Clair League for 16 years from 1986 to 2002. Thirteen of those years were spent with the Waterloo Buds under Coach Vern Moehrs. Vogel played for the Buds in 1987 and then again from 1991 to 2002. He was with the Valmeyer Lakers in 1986, and Belleville from 1988 to 1990. During his 16 seasons in the Mon-Clair League, his composite batting average was .317.

Vogel has been an assistant coach for the Waterloo Millers in the Mon-Clair League since 2015. He was inducted into the Mon-Clair League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.

He has coached baseball in Waterloo for over 32 years, beginning in 1991 with the Waterloo American Legion Team.
