A right-handed pitcher, Lenny was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1981. He played in their farm system until 1984 and pitched for the North American Martyrs from 1983-85, helping them win the league championship each year.

Lenny also played six seasons for the St. Louis Union Printers, pitched seven seasons for Cottleville & Harvester, and was selected to five EMBA all-star teams. Klaus was assistant baseball coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis from 1997-98 and is currently the president of Bridgeton Athletic Association’s Board of Directors.
