David was a second baseman, outfielder, and pitcher for University City High School. He played right field for Ladue High School, graduating in 1977.
Todd was a letterman for two years at Northeast Missouri State University, now known as Truman State University. He as the starting center fielder in 1980, and the starting right fielder in 1981. During those two years, David didn’t make an error and was only caught stealing once. His composite batting average was well over .300. He was scouted by the Cincinnati Reds.
David was the starting right fielder for 20 years on the St. Louis Wildcats’ semi-pro team from 1981 to 2001. He was also a coach and manager for the Wildcats.
Todd played semi-pro ball in the Tandy League, Coal Belt League, Black Ball League, and the St. Louis North County League. David played on numerous championship teams throughout his baseball career and was selected to numerous all-star teams.
He coached baseball at Normandy High School for eight years and was a physical education teacher for 30 years in the Normandy School District.
In 2020, David Todd was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame.
