Meeker was the head baseball coach at St. Charles High School for 27 years from 1992 to 2018, leading his teams to five Final Four appearances in the Missouri State Tournament. The Pirates finished second in 2005 and third in 1993.

Meeker was the assistant baseball coach at St. Charles High for six seasons from 1986 to 1991. During his 33 years as a high school baseball coach, Meeker conducted numerous baseball camps to teach the fundamentals of the game. He also coached basketball at the school.

Meeker grew up in Mediapolis, Iowa, and played baseball at Mediapolis High School. He was a right-handed pitcher. From 1973 to 1978, he pitched for Northeast Missouri State University.
