Cardinals Care is the community foundation of the St. Louis Cardinals, dedicated to improving the lives of children in the St. Louis area. Established in 1997, it focuses on helping children in under-resourced neighborhoods. Since its inception, Cardinals Care has invested over 34 million dollars into community programs, providing essential resources and support to children and families in need.
A Redbird Rookies youth baseball and softball league was created for children in impoverished neighborhoods. Building and renovating ball fields is a top priority.
Financial support is provided to local nonprofits that work with children.
The Cardinals Care Family Room at the Grove Ronald McDonald House opened in June of 2024. Cardinals Care funded the baseball-themed space where parents can gather with their children who are receiving treatment at local hospitals. Cardinals Care donated 200,000 dollars to the St. Louis County Library to fund a Cardinals Care Bookmobile. There are over 5,000 items with a special shelf devoted to Cardinal-themed books. Thousands of students will benefit from the bookmobile. Last year, Cardinals Care provided a partnership grant of 500,000 dollars for an Eye Thrive Mobile Vision Clinic which travels to schools and community centers, benefiting children in need of vision care.
Cardinals Care provides health screenings, educational programs, and scholarships to support the health and education of children.
Cardinals Care raises money through various events and initiatives, including their popular Winter Warm-up fundraiser, where fans meet players, coaches, and alumni while exploring the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum. The Annual Fun Run features a family-friendly course through the streets of downtown St. Louis, finishing on Clark Street, followed by a memorable victory lap around the warning track inside Busch Stadium. The fun starts at Ballpark Village with a pre-race warm-up. There are weekly auctions, both online and in-person, featuring autographed items and memorabilia. There are 50/50 Raffles to raise money during home games at Busch Stadium. Cardinals Care works with local organizations to support children in the St. Louis community. Donations are accepted through the Cardinals Care website and other channels.
Cardinals Care works with the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation to provide resources to traumatized youth, helping them enjoy secure, violence-free lives. The many accomplishments of Cardinals Care reflect their commitment to improving the lives of children in the St. Louis area.
