An outstanding right-handed pitcher, Stone was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2005 and the next year he was drafted by the Florida Marlins. He played in the Marlins farm system from 2006 to 2010. He began his five-year minor league career with the Marlins farm team in Greensboro, North Carolina. He pitched for the Greensboro Grasshoppers from 2006 to 2008. In 2006, he was also on the Jamestown Jammers in Jamestown, New York. In 2008 and 2009, he pitched for the Jupiter Hammerheads in the Florida State League. In 2009, he advanced to the Triple A level with the New Orleans Zephyrs. He also pitched for the Zephyrs in 2010.
In 2009 and 2010, he was a pitcher for the Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League. His team won the league championship both years. Stone wrapped up his minor league career in 2010 with the Gulf Coast League Marlins. He continued to play professional baseball in 2011 with two independent teams – the Gateway Grizzlies and the Sioux Falls Pheasants.
Stone pitched for CBC High School and received a baseball scholarship to Quincy College where he played from 2004 to 2006. He was then drafted by the Florida Marlins.
Stone was a pitching coach in the St. Louis area from 2003 to 2023. He coached baseball at Bishop DuBourg High School, St. Mary’s High School, and Webster University.
